Must Haves in the Kitchen

Always have on hand, your favorite Pasta & Sauce, Frozen(steamable) bag vegetables, Rice, Potatoes, and Salad fixins. If you have all that, you’ll never be unprepared for the unexpected. You can cook anything, and quick.

I will cover  Buying & Freezing in bulk, later.

Starches and Sweeteners

  • Flour, Alternative Flour for Gluten Free including:  Bob’s Redmill GF pancake Mix
  • Corn Starch, Potato Starch, Rice Flour, Corn Meal (GF)
  • Sugar, Brown Sugar, Sugar Alternates like Honey, Agave, Truvia & Splenda
  • Orange Marmalade, Other Jams, preferably non sugar added

Herbs, Spices & Condiments

  • Sea Salt Grinder, Pepper Mill, Spices: Tarragon, Rosemary, Basil, Vegetable Flakes, Go to Steffie’s Spice Rack
  • Baking Soda, Baking Powder, Vanilla
  • Capers, Mustards, Lemon Juice, Lime Juice, Marsala Wine
  • Raisins, Dried Cranberries, Nuts
  • Olive Oil, Vegetable Oil for Cooking
  • Premium Balsamic Vinegar, Red Wine Vinegar, Apple Cider Vinegar

Fridge

  • Butter or butter sub like Benecol or Brummel & Brown’s spread, Eggs, Egg Beaters,
  • Soft Cheese, Hard Cheeses
  • Lettuce, Cukes

Freezer

  • Boneless Chicken Breast, portioned 1lb= 4 portions
  • Ground Turkey or Chicken, 1/4 lb per person
  • Beef, Pork-Ground, Portioned Steaks, Roasts
  • BUY Whole Chickens, Turkeys, Poultry by Occasion, Whole Hams etc

The Cupboard

  • Breadcrumbs or GF Breadcrumbs
  • Canned Beets
  • Rice, Quinoa (GF), Potato Flakes
  • Olives, Pickles, Canned Kitchen Ready Tomatoes-Diced & Crushed
  • Prepared Pasta Sauce
  • Pasta: Wheat, Regular of Gluten Free
  • Canned Pineapple
  • Tuna, and preferred alternates such as Tiny Shrimp, & Crabmeat
